Commercial Solar Case Study
Sherrin Group new head office, 200 kW solar system
SolarWide had previously installed a few 30kW solar systems for the Sherrin Group but in 2019 they contacted us again wanting to put solar on their new Headquarters that they were building in Pinkenba, Brisbane.
The building was going to house Sherrin Rentals and Sherrin Equipment Hire and they wanted a 100kW system for each business, giving the overall building footprint a total capacity of 200kW.
As with all other systems that we had provided for them, we used the premium LG solar panels. We had previously used Fronius inverters, but for this install the inverters ideally needed to be roof mounted so we used the German made SMA Sunny Tripower core 1 50kW inverters. We mounted 2 inverters side by side for each system and had a custom cover made up between the 2x 50kW solar inverters because of the visually more attractive finish.
There were a lot of LG NeON panels (480 of them), stacks of Clenergy solar racking, kilometres of cable, many lengths of cable tray and an enormous amount of hard work went that went into this large job, but we are very proud of how our inhouse solar installers completed the job in a neat and timely manner, causing minimal disruption to the Sherrin business.
We achieved building a neat and quality solar solution, but the really important thing for the client was that we had absolute minimal disruption to the business. We worked with Sherrin Group to coordinate all aspects of the installation to ensure absolute minimal cross over conflicts, between the business continuing to operate smoothly and our installation needs. All this while adhering 100% to their onsite health and safety practices.
With larger jobs like this 2x 100kW solar installation, these require many additional technical design aspects, compared to a relative straight forward 6.6 kW home solar power solution. There is the network protection, export limitation, power quality testing, windload engineering and much, much more. SolarWide’s installation and design team handle all of this as part of the installation process.
They certainly were a great couple of 100kW solar jobs from the team at SolarWide and it feels very good to have customers from smaller systems coming back for more challenging jobs. Repeat business is a great honour and we always go out of our way to be the best and to impress.
